Northwoods Retreat
The word of God is our spiritual food. There is nothing more central to the life of a Christian than being dependent on God through what He has said. When we isolate ourselves from it there is a felt loss that soon follows as other words and ideas in our heads replace the ones that God has spoken. But when we value God’s words and take them into our hearts, there is a resulting joy for the promises we have in Christ, an enlarged hunger and thirst for righteousness, and a renewed clarity over what our lives should be about. In Hebrews we are told that the word of God is “quick and powerful…”
Those who have read through the entire New Testament, or even the entire Bible, know the blessing of such an accomplishment! But rarely do we absorb larger portions of Scripture in a short amount of time. So the basis of this retreat is a challenge to read through the New Testament in about a week. We will have one hour in the morning, afternoon, and evening set aside for personal reading (which is enough time to finish at a comfortable pace). Our prayer is that God will use this unique and powerful experience to bless you in ways you never thought possible.
The rest of each day is designed to refresh you through fun activities, outdoor adventures, delicious meals, campfires, meaningful conversations, and plenty free time to enjoy yourself and being with friends in God’s beautiful creation. And then we will conclude each day with a time of prayer, worship, and the opportunity to share what you are learning.
